Rosedene’s response to COVID-19

Priorities throughout the crisis: 1) Health & safety of our children, families and Rosedene employees, 2) Supporting our key workers throughout the crisis.

Our response:

  • Rosedene adapted our model to support all our key worker parents and vulnerable children throughout the crisis as best we could

  • Set up 4 key childcare hubs across Middlesbrough, Redcar & East Cleveland; Stockton and North Yorkshire. Three of these within 1 mile of acute hospitals.

  • Extended Rosedene operating hours to offer 24 hour childcare; 7 days per week to accommodate key worker shift patterns

  • Providing daily activities for our children at nursery and to children to follow at home; keeping everyone connected via social & our Rosedene App

Rosedene’s response and measures during the pandemic include:

  1. Communication

  • Throughout this crisis communication with our parents, staff, children, Local Authorities and Government has been vital.

  • Rosedene Employees – stepped into a new world of Zoom meetings daily with Managers, Head Office team are up to date with government guidance; discuss ongoing feedback to continue to further improve our operations.

  • Parents – we continue to communicate our position, answer any questions and provide children activities via the Rosedene App, Facebook, Email and on the phone.

  • Local Authorities & Government – weekly discussions in our actions and the ongoing provision of safe childcare for our key worker parents and vulnerable children.

  • Nationally, Rosedene are part of a COVID-19 response group with 70 leading childcare providers and bodies, including EY Alliance and NDNA. We have been discussing all topics from operations, funding, PPE, and supported the government in the reopening plans.

2. Nursery operations:

  • Completely new risk assessment; continuously reviewed and updated

  • All external nursery trips, including care home partnership activities suspended.

  • All external visitors, including suppliers, deliveries and parent show-arounds not be allowed to enter inside our Rosedene settings.

  • Create as healthy environments as possible in every nursery; with our children playing outside more frequently, windows opened through-out the day and the extra hygiene measures mentioned below.

  • Suspected cases: we ask parents to check their children and make this assessment before bringing your child to nursery. As in any normal procedure, if we identify any new symptoms with a child at nursery, we will contact the parent to collect the child.

3. Hygiene is imperative

  • All nurseries with hand sanitizers at the nursery entrances to be used by everyone as they enter and leave nursery

  • Handover process: all parents/ guardians asked, where possible, to wait in communal spaces or entrance areas

  • Communal areas regularly disinfected throughout the day

  • Our nurseries are already professionally cleaned daily, using certified products from environmental health authorities. Throughout the crisis we have stepped up our cleaning services to focus particularly on all surfaces and objects which may be visibly contaminated with body fluids, including door handles, buzzers, toilets, office equipment and any external visitor contact points. Our nursery teams will now also clean these areas after morning drop off and pick-up to ensure extra care with external visitors.

  • Our children will be taking extra care with regular hand washing and we will be holding hygiene-focused activities.

We are very happy and grateful, that since the outbreak of the virus, we have not had any employee or child cases of COVID-19 in Rosedene. We continue to operate safe practice, with extra precautions and following government guidance, to ensure the health and wellbeing of our Rosedene family. We are working on our June reopening plans and will share these with you soon.
